We posted an article “Why Business Owners Think Their Social Media Campaigns Failed“, and we wanted to expand on that post with a video and give out some more pointers as to make your social media campaigns more effective for your business.
Just to summarize the previous post, we have stressed on the fact that most business owners think their social media campaign has failed because of their expectations. Furthermore, we indicated some facts about how social social media works, such as how relationships are developed, how your credibility, quality of your services and products will affect your social media campaign, and etc…
In this video, we are going to share pointers with you to setup a more successful social media campaign, and the first pointer we wanted to point out is the fact that your social media campaign is not your platform for your sales pitches. Though this may work to a certain degree in some markets, where people are asking for more info on your products and services, it really is not a good idea to develop relationships in your social media.
You should make your social media icons more prominent on your landing pages, and make sure that people understand you are open to the public and reachable through social media.
Optimizing your Twitter, Facebook and Google+ pages is a must.
Page Titles should include your company name as your page title unless you are planning on branding yourself as your company, which works better in Twitter than any other social media.
Meta Description or About in your social media pages should have description of your products and services with your keywords.
Your posts should be relevant to your products and services with rich keywords included.
Although the links are no-follow in your social media platforms, you should still include links for referral purposes.
Furthermore, keep in mind that search engines aggregate social media within their rankings. So it is important that you are mentioned in, at least, three of the social media platforms, if not more.
Since videos have become prominent in the social media platform. You should take your presence, at least, in YouTube, if not also Vimeo. You should make sure to put keyword rich text as well links to drive traffic to your site, and also optimize the Page Titles, Meta Descriptions as I have mentioned above in the other social platforms.
You should also keep in mind that there are more social media platforms out there besides Facebook, Google+, and Twitter. It is an understandable fact that there are time and money co strains associated with expanding yourself, but you should still look into being presence in LinkedIn, Foursquare, Slideshare, Flicker, Tumblr, and needless to mention your own blog.
When you setup your social media presence, you need a few tools to be more effective, so these tools will expand your abilities in your social platform: Argyle Social, IceRocket, Sysomos, TweetReach, and TwentyFeet.
If you are in a business offering products and services such as travel, shopping, and dining, it is quite vital to have your mobile site, and also make a presence on the social media market. These industries tend to be searched a lot more on the mobile market, and the influence of social media happens to be more dominant among the users.
The last one that we need to mention is of course your website. No matter what you do in the social media, your website has a tremendous effect on the influence within the social media. Small percentage of social relationships may work without having a good presence with your website, but majority of your social connections will definitely be looking at your website and influenced by it when they are making their decisions. So it is recommended to have well designed and optimized website, which sets your precedence on the net before you start expecting good results from your social media campaigns.
