How To Setup Your Internet Marketing Strategy – Initial Steps
In order to have a better understanding of this subject, we need to start with Search Engine Optimization and go backwards to see how we can setup our Internet Marketing Strategy. So, the beginning may sound like another explanation of SEO, but you need to bear with me to understand this matter.
Most people talk about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), optimizing their website (on-page optimization). They have a pretty good idea that the essence of optimizing a website is the keywords.
On the other hand, when an SEO professional starts talking about off-page optimization, the subject becomes link building and link building strategies in the minds of people. So link building strategy pretty much becomes the off-page optimization, which is not really the fact. The fact is, even though off-page optimization involves link building, it actually requires building optimized-links, where it involves links coming from authority sites, relevant sites, and most importantly links with anchor text, which again entails your keywords.
So needless to mention, not a surprise to anybody, your keywords play a significant role in your Search Engine Optimization Strategy, which means you need to do a through keyword research.
The Beginning of Your Internet Marketing Strategy
How do you do keyword research? One way is to come up with the relevant keywords to your industry, or your products and services, and go from there to find the most viable ones for yourself… which is an acceptable way. But what if there is a better way, much effective way of doing this and coming up with much more valuable information for your success.
How about looking into your competitors fist, before you even delve into your keyword research, and seeing what keywords they are using, what keywords they are dominating the market with. Rather than starting on your keyword research with some relevant keywords that you come up with, you start with these keywords to find the most viable ones for yourself. This way, when you are deciding on your keywords, you can actually see the big picture much better as to which keywords to avoid, which keywords to use. But here is the kicker; in reality, you are designing your internet marketing strategy.
Your keyword research is going to bring up quite a few keywords with search volume, and how many competitors you have. You, then have to decide which ones you should select and start focusing on. But what is invaluable is, if you already know which ones your competitors are focusing on; if they are dominating the market with these keywords, or not; whether you can take market share by using the same keywords, or not… So to speak, this will actually force you to design a good internet marketing strategy.
